ALACHUA CARES PROGRAM

Alachua Cares

Alachua Cares is a program in which the City of Alachua collects voluntary contributions.  These contributions are used to assist the City of Alachua utility customers who may be in need of emergency assistance to pay their utility bill.  All contributions collected are disbursed at the end of each month to an outside agency who will administer the program.

The administrator of the program on behalf of the City of Alachua is Christ Central Ministries.  Christ Central determines who receives assistance with preference being given to those customers who are at least 60 years of age or those who are disabled and unable to be self-sufficient.  Individuals must be a City of Alachua residential utility customer to receive assistance from this program.

Below, are additional social service agencies that have programs established to assist those in need of payment assistance.  Please note, however, that each one of these agencies has their own requirements and restrictions which apply to requests for assistance.
