GENERAL PURPOSE
This position is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness of all City facilities including parks and other outdoor areas. It is also performing minor maintenance repairs and is involved in various city projects on an as need basis.
MAIN JOB TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Performs cleaning and janitorial duties in City facilities as required.
- Sweeps, mops, strips, waxes and vacuums floors as needed.
- Cleans windows and polishes and dusts furniture.
- Cleans and sanitizes restrooms.
- Cleans and sanitizes refrigerators.
- Collects and removes trash in buildings and other related areas.
- Assists with maintaining custodial supplies inventory.
- Reports needs for facilities repairs to supervisor.
- Notifies supervisor of any safety hazards.
- Assists with moving office furniture and equipment.
- Operates light equipment occasionally.
- Assists with maintenance duties and minor repairs.
- Sweeps and blows off outside areas (this includes sidewalks and parking lots)
- Power washes sidewalks and other areas as needed.
- Performs other related duties as required/assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- High school graduation or possession of an acceptable equivalency diploma required.
- Must possess a valid Florida Driver’s License.
A comparable amount of training, education or experience can be substituted for the minimum qualifications.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
- Knowledge of clerical or trades-based tasks.
- Skills in operation and maintenance of equipment and tools related to the position.
- Ability to follow written and oral instructions
- Ability to perform manual labor for extended periods of time.
- Ability to recognize safety hazards in the work involved, and to take precautionary measures to protect self and others.
WORKING CONDITIONS & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Work may be performed inside an office environment or outside in various weather conditions which may include dust, dirt, and noise.
- Work can be performed with exposure to various cleaning supplies which may include bleach and other potentially harmful products.
- Work requires walking, standing, stooping, bending, and kneeling.
- Work requires driving.
- Work requires equipment operation.
- Work requires moderate to heavy (45 pounds and over) lifting and carrying.
- Additionally, the following physical abilities are required: manual dexterity, hearing, mental acuity, repetitive motion, speaking, and talking.
