Purpose: The purpose of the Educational Task Force is to recommend to the City Commission policies, procedures, and suggestions for improving the quality of childhood education in the City, to include cooperation with all public, private, and charter schools, and early childhood centers that offer preschool, daycare or Head Start.
The Educational Task Force will be composed of five (5) voting members and two (2) non-voting liaisons, one a member of the City Commission and one a member of City Staff, as appointed by the City Commission. The five (5) voting members will serve for a three-year term, though the initial appointments will be staggered: two (2) for a three-year term, two (2) for a two-year term, and one (1) for a one-year term.
The Educational Task Force shall be created effective June 12, 2023. The inaugural meeting will be held at City Hall on Tuesday, June 20, 2023 at 5:00 PM. At the inaugural meeting, the voting members shall elect a Chair and Vice-Chair from among its own members and determine the frequency with which the Task Force will regularly meet.
