Purpose: The purpose of the Youth Advisory Council is to stimulate and foster the active participation of young individuals in the addressing of issues impacting the youth of the community to ensure leaders of tomorrow have input in the local government process today.
The Youth Advisory Council shall recommend to the City Commission policies, procedures and philosophies and serve as advocates for issues and initiatives to positively impact the lives of youth. It shall facilitate community meetings with youth to discuss issues and suggestions for improvement, assist in planning and implementing various events to benefit youth in the community and promote and recognize abilities, accomplishments and contributions of youth.

Membership Requirements:
- Must live in City of Alachua or be enrolled in a public school, private school or a home education program within the City of Alachua
- Must be enrolled in grades nine through twelve
