City of Alachua, FL
Home MenuMessage from Mayor Coerper
Dear Neighbors,
Thank you for doing your part to help slow the spread of the novel coronavirus. There has been immense sacrifice during these unprecedented times and many still face hardships as we navigate the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic. Our community has displayed resilience in the fight and we are seeing the results of our shared efforts as Florida begins to reopen.
Governor DeSantis has initiated Phase I reopening effective May 4th, with many businesses reopening under specific guidelines that continue to promote the safety and health of our communities. Alachua County has also issued guidance during the reopening process that applies to all residents and businesses in our community. Please visit our COVID-19 resident and business resource pages on our website to learn more about how these measures impact you and to access resources to help with hardships.
While we move through the reopening phases, remember the City of Alachua is still working for you. Our police officers are serving our neighborhoods and responding to those in need. Our utility workers are keeping our electric, water and sewer services up and running. Our outdoor park areas are open for you to enjoy with proper social distancing. All City services continue to operate, albeit in modified ways, as we meet this challenge. Our public servants – who are doing essential work for all of us – are committed to serve you and deserve a great debt of gratitude.
We will continue to follow the guidance and mandates of federal and state officials, augmenting the way we work to still be able to provide you the highest quality of services in a safe and responsible manner.
We are taking a big step forward with many more ahead. Let’s continue to show kindness and understanding to one another as we do this together, one step at a time.
Warmest regards,
Gib Coerper
Mayor
