Home MenuPatrol Division
The Patrol Division is the largest component of the police department and is staffed by a combination of police officers and supervisors.
Responding to emergency calls and performing crime prevention or tactical investigation duties, the members of the division are divided among four patrol shifts to include the K-9 Unit. Officers patrol neighborhoods and all areas within the city limits using marked patrol vehicles. The primary objective of the division is to strategically patrol the city and to respond to calls for service.
In addition to emergency response duties, the officers are also deployed to target areas and perform directed patrols at specific problem locations that are identified through the generation of complaints or through the use of crime analysis data. Intertwined with defined patrol duties, members are also responsible for traffic control, processing minor crime scenes, assisting other agencies, and responding to unpredictable events such as natural or man-made disasters.
