The Alachua Police Explorer Program is a law-enforcement-based community service program. Its purpose is to bring together law enforcement officers and youth with an interest in law enforcement as a possible career. The program instills discipline, responsibility and leadership.

In order to be qualified to join and become a police explorer, you must be 14-21 years of age, enrolled in middle or high school, maintain a GPA of 2.5 or higher, have parent or guardian consent, and be of good moral character.

The Explorers will have real police training, ride alongs, obtain community service hours, work many of events held by the city of Alachua, take trips as an explorer post, and gain advancement in a law enforcement career.

For more information or to join as a police explorer, contact Sergeant David Floyd at (386) 462-1396 or by email at dfloyd@alachuapd.org.
