The details of the City of Alachua's Business Incentive Plan are spelled out in Ordinance 24-13 (available in the documents below).  Applications for each incentive are also available below.  In general, the incentives offered are:

  • Business Development Electric Discount - an incremental, 5-year electric rate discount for applicants either occupying a new facility that will generate at least 350 kW of demand per month, or an existing facility that will increase the facility demand by at least 350 kW per month.
  • Electric Contribution in Aid of Construction - a discount on costs associated with the extension, addition, and / or modification of City electric infrastructure put in place to serve new or additional electric system load.
  • Expedited Permitting Service - a two-week review time reduction for permits for rezoning, site plan, and subdivision plats for businesses either located in the City's Community Redevelopment Area (CRA) or that can demonstrate that the location, expansion, or redevelopment project aligns with at least one initiative in the City's Strategic Plan.
  • Incubator / Accelerator Entrant Lease Subsidy - a rental subsidy for up to two years not to exceed $12,000 for businesses that are entering a business incubator or accelerator program located within the City of Alachua. 
  • Incubator / Accelerator Graduate Lease Subsidy - a rental subsidy for up to one year not to exceed $12,000 for businesses that have graduated from a business incubator or accelerator program and locate within the City of Alachua.
  • Tech Event Matching Grant - reimbursable matching funds at a 50% match (one-to-one basis) not to exceed $1,500 for technology-focused events and programs.
  • Small Business Assistance Program - reimbursable matching funds at a 50% match (one-to-one basis) not to exceed $20,000 for small businesses not exceeding 25 employees and not a franchisee for the following fees / charges: capital facilities charges; site plan review fees; building permit fees; all elements of public right-of-way infrastructure within City limits that may require new installation, repair, replacement, or relocation.
